1984 ROLEX GMT MASTER Ref. 16750 Matte Dial
Description
The Rolex GMT Master is one of the brands most iconic timepieces, originally made in collaboration with Pan Am Airlines to give pilots the ability to track an additional time zone. The reference 16750 was introduced in 1979 and the first years of the reference featuring matte dials were transitional from its four-digit matte dial predecessor, the 1675, to the now 'neo-vintage' 16750 that featured a glossy black dial with white gold surrounds on the lume plots that Rolex still uses today. The early reference 16750's with matte dials are thus the best of both worlds of vintage and modern Rolex. The technical improvements from the five-digit reference include a quickset date function, a movement with a higher beats per second for more accurate timekeeping, and a case with increased water resistance.
