Rare Grand Seiko Heritage Spring Drive
Japan-Only Double-Stamped Dial, Ice Blue
This one runs Caliber 9R65, Grand Seiko's first-ever automatic Spring Drive movement, in an ice blue dial that shifts tone with the light. Dated 2006 via the included warranty card, it's a genuine Japan-only release with a rare double-stamped "Seiko" over "Grand Seiko" dial signature from before the brand sold anywhere outside Japan.
Why it's interesting
Genuine Japan-only release: warranty card dated 12/2006, four years before Grand Seiko was sold anywhere outside Japan (international distribution didn't start until 2010)
Rare double-stamped dial reading "Seiko" above "Grand Seiko," a pre-independence signature specific to this era
9R65 debuted in 2004 as Grand Seiko's first automatic Spring Drive, extending power reserve from 48 to 72 hours over its manual predecessor
Automatic winding via a refined "Magic Lever" system, originally developed in 1959
Glide-motion seconds hand, no tick, driven by a magnetic brake firing 256 times a second
